The European Parliament has announced its plan to introduce a Digital Identity “wallet” . The news came just a couple of weeks after Christine Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank, in a pre-recorded video said that the European Union was moving forward with the development of the digital Euro, its central bank digital currency.

Even though Christine Lagarde attempted to promote a CBDC as “your Euro, your way”, the currency is only the tip of the iceberg: an all-encompassing digital identity system is the ultimate goal.
