How about the testing of AI for war in places like Ukraine and Gaza by Palantir which has been very much involved in both pretty much from the beginning?

Glenn Diesen’s guest says our high tech, super expense missile defense systems simply aren’t up to the task of stopping these missiles and drones from Iran and he fears that as Israel loses the war Netanyahu will resort to a nuclear attack on Iran and then everything globally will really spin out of control. I recommend starting at the 50 min point to the end and then to the beginning and watch it all. There is rapidly increasing evidence that what he’s saying is true. I also recommend the Indian sites like Times of India, Hindustan Times, WION and Firstpost for good info on the war. Better than our biased msm.

Great video as usual. But I believe Russia and China have been too constrained.

Lena does great reporting. I watch pretty much everything she posts.

Russia is already helping Iran with targeting sites in Israel and our bases in the Gulf states. China will no doubt also get involved if they’re not already.

I wonder how it feels for the US which has long given Ukraine targeting data on Russia. Blowback isn't so much fun, eh, Washington? Two can play that game.

I agree. One of the most monumentally stupid things our leaders did after the collapse of the USSR was to keep moving NATO to Russia’s border, especially after what America/NATO did to Gaddafi and Libya. Gaddafi ended up sodomized and killed with a bayonet by our rebels and Libya was simply destroyed as a country. Would we have done something similar to Putin and Russia? No doubt we would have. We could have easily been friends with Putin and Russia.

That’s what they wanted and that would have been immensely valuable for us and for the world. Instead we went in the opposite direction, forced Russia into an alliance with China and destabilized the entire world. Truly depressing how stupid that was. Here’s an excellent interview with Putin about how he came to realize that America and Europe simply wanted Russia destroyed and could not be trusted. This is what Putin should have told Tucker when he had a global platform to present Russia’s case to the world. I think Putin is one of the world’s most skillful leaders though. He saved Russia and the Russian people from destruction by the West.

I understand, but they are too trusting of the empire. They should put more force on the US. If Putin had won the war in Ukraine quickly, he could have directed more effort to helping Iran

Of course, the problem is that Russia is fighting NATO in Ukraine.

JLPritchard's avatar

Describing Russia as acting “with a great deal of restraint” because it has not used nuclear weapons in its unprovoked war in Ukraine is unusual normative framing. Non-use is the expected baseline under the post-1945 nuclear taboo, not exceptional restraint. Moreover, Russia’s repeated nuclear signaling—public reminders of its nuclear capabilities and the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus—moves in the opposite direction, functioning as coercive escalation rather than restraint.

JLPritchard's avatar

Sounds like we're in agreement that it wasn't "a great deal of restraint" utilized in "letting NATO know." To your other point: the West isn't alone in marketing baleful strategic choices via moral righteousness. Putin’s denazification claims and allegations that Russian speakers faced persecution—genocide, even—in Ukraine come to mind. On the subject of accounting, one can leaf through the Panama Papers for details on the $2 billion offshore network tied to Putin’s circle. At least we can further agree there is irony in the fact that both the US and Russia now have a pernicious "special military operation" to account for.

Putin was letting NATO know they need to be very careful exactly how far they go in helping Ukraine. The West thinks they can do what they want with impunity and they have the nerve to act all moral and righteous while they do it too. Meanwhile, much of their money for Ukraine has ended up in someone's offshore bank account.
