I personally don't believe the Bank of Japan will be able to raise interest rates very high. This is because the national debt interest just cannot stand it. With over twice Japan's GDP, higher interest rates are simply unsustainable for very long. Of course, the same will happen in the US eventually, but Japan is in much more trouble and so I don't see massive amounts of money going back to Japan. Would you bring money back from a country with better debt levels and higher interest rates back to your own basket-case of a country? The Bank of Japan simply cannot afford to stay high long.
