It may be the case that Brovkin assumes only those pro-Western voices want to portray Putin ‘as a fool’. This is a mis-reading of the situation. Putin achieved a great deal for the Russian people post 2001 but Putin himself admits regretting his naivety over Minsk. The so-called hawks in the Kremlin wanted Putin to go on the offensive in 2015 when the Ukraine army could have been defeated easily by Russia, instead he agreed to Minsk. In the following eight years over 14,000 civilians were massacred in Donbas, over 100,000 working class Russians are dead (class is important and there is credible evidence that many in the oligarch class in Russia, including the zionist ones, benefit greatly from the continuation of the Ukraine war). Nearly 2 million working class Ukrainians lost their lives, again class is important - ALL of the adult children of ALL politicians and senior civil servants in the Kiev regime are driving around Monaco and Florida in Ferrari’’s etc. I have read recently that Putin’s party are expected lose many seats in September, and deservedly so.
