This article maintains that the MOU is a Trojan Horse in that it allows for the injection of Western capital into potentially key sectors of the Iranian economy and, potentially, the re-insertion of Iran into the international banking system, which may well have been one of the primary (unstated) goals of the war. That Iran has existed outside SWIFT and the BIS is intolerable to the City of London, and re-integrating Iran into that system has been a key goal of the international banking cartel. They simply cannot allow countries to exercise their own sovereignty over their own resources and their own money, since a sovereign country cannot be controlled through international banking pressures and sanctions.
This article states that one of the conditions for release of the $300 billion in frozen assets is that the money will be (must be?) used to buy American farm and other products. Iran denies this, but it does indicate that the empire will always do what is in the best interest of the oligarchs that own this country and will never do anything solely or even partly for the benefit of anyone else. It was ever thus.
I think the bottom line is that, pending a formal treaty or agreement that is negotiated between Iran and the empire, we should be cautious when evaluating any deal and keep in mind that the empire is both treacherous and disingenuous in its dealings with other countries, particularly with regard to countries from which it wants to extract resources and to exert dominance over its internal politics, as it always does.
