If Turkey was attacked by Israel, NATO would have no choice but to help an attacked ally. If they did not, NATO would fold on the spot because if an attacked country is not helped, there is no Alliance anymore. Countries would bail out of a useless military alliance which picks and chooses who is defended from attack.
Türkiye is hedging its bets and since they have one of the largest militaries in the region, and Israel appears to be spoiling for a fight with them, it's a foregone conclusion. I don't think they're ready to let go of the west just yet, but they may slow their roll with the U.S. going forward, like a lot of other countries are starting to do. Maybe in the near future, Türkiye may close or severely restrict the American use of their military bases to start with.
I disagree. Just because they didn't rush to Donald's Trump's rescue to save him from his war disaster does not mean anything. Trump made the war; the Iranians did not start it. Therefore, NATO was under no obligation to bail him out, especially how he tariffed them and mocked them. I'm sure they enjoyed watching him twist on a spit of his own making.
What exactly would Russia and China get out of this? Not much as Turkey would get and stay in NATO too. I suspect reception of this will be lukewarm in Moscow and Beijing. They will say a few nice words and that will be about it. They know exactly the position of Turkey and will react will all caution.
