Appreciate the video and the comments by Wine Press. Both contain truth and reasonable conclusions. This administration is taking a gamble on starting this trade war and in part to sew discord and weakened some of the alliances formed in the past administration most notably w/China. I’m optimistic that long term this will benefit us more than harm us. We’re back at the table rather than being the punching bag at almost every level with the past administraion. While I like to think that humanitarian causes are just, this is long-long become the story of power, military might, financial gain, and preserving, or acquiring, resources. Thanks Lena and Wine Press.
Great interview. I actually cited both of you in a piece I wrote yesterday about these tariffs. The reality is that even with these steep tariffs, many of these Chinese goods, for example, are still much cheaper (and better) than American brands, and over-priced subpar American name brands are only going to get more expensive. We don't need "trickle down," we need "bottom up" economics, but this will never be discussed.
The reality is that people have already made up their minds about these tariffs, and it does not matter how many facts you present to them as many want to remain willfully ignorant. Nothing can be fixed until people stop suspending disbelief, lower their pride, and face the facts and seek meaningful solutions- but that is a pipe dream at this point. So, the more you talk about this the more pushback you are going to get because some people cannot face the music.

I hope Canada recovers in 4 years but i think the countries are too strongly tied together, trying to have its cake and eat it too.
Many of the U.S. problems exist in Canada and i do not see the 6 initiatives Prof.Powell mentioned happening, except for 5G mobile communications which the government is promoting. However there will be some resistance to 5G from various perspectives.
It was a pleasure joining you; sorry about the dry throat and the coughing.
From the audience, it was not distracting from the content-full discussion! Best wishes to get well soon.

There has always been a critical shortage of wise men.
